Can we live satisfied
When wants are multiplied
By men with cash to lend
And those with goods to vend?
Can fostered discontent
That never will relent
And dogs our every stride
Be left or turned aside?
We’re held in slavery
By product puffery
So that fulfillment means
Those new designer jeans.
With reasoning quite flawed
Technology we laud
As bettering mankind.
Such thinking’s worse than blind.
Mans’ basic needs are few.
Fulfilling work to do,
A faith, good friends, and family,
Material sufficiency.
While needs they often seem
The rest are really cream
Though not to be decried
Could we be satisfied.
