In this narrow seaside park, remote from houses
The distant car park fields a cosy female scrum
Its players lost to the everything but catch-up talk.
It seems that parenthood has been forgotten
One Mum has put her primary role on ‘Hold’
To launch her infant’s odyssey to far-off swings..

Pushed on a swing is juvenile Nirvana.
No-push means rainbow’s end, no pot of gold.
The stubborn swing insists it needs adult assist.
Though being male and therefore ‘stranger danger’
Slumped shoulders signal clear the tots distress.
No choice but push. Her disappointment mine.
