Little Blue, I’m sure you have a Latin name but “Little Blue” must do.
Some time a botanist got on his knees, as I have done, and marvelled.
You so small, so seeming insignificant, and yet so very beautiful.
Who smuggled you into my lawn? The seed I bought was certified.
Your neighbours, drab, rely on the capricious wind for their posterity
But here are you adorned to tempt a lover. I would say an aesthete.
But just who?
Your man-of science will have watched, identified your caller,
But I have not the time. I have this lawn to mow and other chores.
Still!….Just for you sweet thing…I’ll lift the blade a smidgen.
