TOPS.
She’s sought me out this lady who abused me on the phone
Back when we’d both been dragged into a custody dispute.
Her sister being ‘perfect’ my side had to be alone
At fault which caste me ’trouble maker’, ’twister’, ’liar’, ‘brute’.

Three quarters of an hour she chewed my ear. I kept my cool,
Did not reply in kind, remained polite. That rubbed her raw.
‘I was laughing at her—making it a joke and her a fool.’
No chance to reason with her. My attempts inflamed her more.

But now she’s sought me out. She wishes to apologise
Abjectly. No-one pushes her. She has nothing to gain.
She’s of those few admitting wrong and righting it. In my eyes
She’s now tops, a female paragon, and tops she will remain.
